Sporting KC Starting Favorable Month

With the MLS returning from its two-week break, the reigning MLS champions Sporting KC face a favorable schedule to pick up points in July. Since the return, Sporting are 1-1 and sitting in second place, two points behind DC United in the Eastern Conference.

The most recent game, played against bitter rivals Chicago Fire, ended in a 1-1 draw at Sporting Park in front of the largest crowd of the season and 45th straight MLS sellout.  Although three of the next four games are away from home, the first being this Saturday in Montreal, Sporting’s July stretch is favorable. Of the four teams Sporting plays, none have more points and all sit below Sporting in their respective conference’s. With Sporting’s two World Cup players Matt Besler and Graham Zusi returning from Brazil, the team’s attack and defense will be bolstered. Both got significant playing time and both were starters for the US men’s national team during the World Cup.

Sporting KC’s next home match is a nationally televised game on ESPN2 Saturday, July 19th at Sporting Park against the LA Galaxy and one of the best players in US history, Landon Donovan.
