The Kansas City Chiefs showed that they can compete

It was Friday. I was really quite excited to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play their 3rd preseason game of the year that night. That evening I was nestled in my recliner with my sandwich in one hand and a soda in the other waiting for the opening kickoff.  The Kansas City football team had not shown me much in the two previous games. Tonight was going to be different as the starters were going to play through the third quarter and they were playing a pretty good team in the Eagles.

I hadn’t taken two bites out of my Jimmy Johns sandwich when the Chiefs were already behind. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. But then slowly they brought me back in. They were playing pretty good football after the early debacle. Oh, don’t get me wrong there are plenty of places to improve upon. Defensive line, quarterback, maybe even linebacker to name a few. At linebacker I think we would be ok if we put the correct players in. My vote for starters at linebacker for the Chiefs would be Vrabel, Mays, Studebaker, and Johnson. We need to get the young guys involved. The possible exception is obviously Vrabel. That guy just keeps making plays. Hard to keep him out. I think that with those moves at linebacker it would help. However, we do have a problem at defensive line. Jackson gets pushed around like he is one of the tackling dummies in practice. We just don’t have any options at that position. Hard to believe that last sentence when you look at the drafting we have done at that position.

I do think that the Chiefs are going to be fun to watch this year.
