Why Late Night Is Important

Kansas Basketball has arrived with Late Night in the Phog tonight. A lot of people have told me “Late Night” isn’t that big of a deal. Well the reality is that it is a huge recruiting tool for Kansas Basketball. In 2013 Kelly Oubre and Cliff Alexander both announced their commitments to Kansas shortly after they had visited for Late Night. In 2012 Wayne Selden and Joel Embiid both attended Late Night and shortly after announced they are heading to Kansas.

Tonight, Kansas has sixteen recruits coming in and that is the most they have ever hosted for Late Night in the Phog. They have six recruits from the Class of 2015 five of them ranked in the top 20. Five recruits from the Class of 2016 and 2017.

Late Night is always a great recruiting tool as the recruits find out first hand how great the Kansas fan base is and how rowdy Allen FIeldhouse can be. How many basketball programs have fans lining up outside of the basketball arena several hours before the doors open for a practice? With the season approaching fast it’s time to buckle down Jayhawk fans and enjoy the ride and enjoy yet another successful season.
