OK NOW I AM ON BOARD—THE ROYALS ARE DONE FOR 2010

I am the biggest Kansas City Royals homer in the Kansas City area. I have thought all along that the Kansas City Baseball team had a chance to win the division. I even have a bet saying the Royals will be less than 10 games out on August 1. That might still happen, but I even have my doubts about that.

I truly thought they might put it together and at least give us something to cheer for in August. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The problem isn’t so much that the team housed in Kaufman Stadium is double digits behind first; it is that there are three teams that they have to pass. Each of those teams has to do significantly worse than they have all year while the Kansas City Royals have to go on a significant run.

Assuming that it will take 85 games to win the Central (it will take at least that), following is how the rest of the season has to play out;

Kansas City Royals

Record pre All Star Game                             39-49

Record post All Star Game                           46-27

Chicago White Sox

Record pre All Star Game                             49-38

Record post All Star Game                           36-38

Detroit Tigers

Record pre All Star Game                             48-38

Record post All Star Game                           37-36

Minnesota Twins

Record pre All Star Game                             46-42

Record post All Star Game                           39-34

A lot of things need to happen to get to a 4 way tie for the division. First and foremost is the Kansas City Baseball team needs to become a winning team.
