What Kansas City Can Look Forward To In 2012

2012 will be an exciting year for Kansas City.  The most anticipated event of next year has to be the MLB All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium.  The game will be held on July 10, 2012 in Kansas City for the first time since 1973.  The All-Star game isn’t the only thing people should be excited about at Kauffman Stadium however.  The Royals look like they are finally becoming a team that can contend for the division.  Expect this young team to surprise a lot of people in 2012.

The Kansas City Chiefs, under a new coaching regime, will definitely make positive strides next year with a healthy Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry, and Tony Moeaki.  The quarterback situation is still undecided for next year but if the Chiefs can draft a QB like Robert Griffin III there will be a lot of buzz surrounding the 2012-13 season.  As seen on Monday Night Football, Chiefs fans are some of the best in the country when they have a team to rally around.  Kansas City is hoping they can use there home field advantage in the playoffs next year.

As always, the Sprint Center is hosting an array of exciting events next year.  Cirque Du Soleil – The Michael Jackson Immortal is one of the biggest events touring and they will be in Kansas City on February 21st.  Jeff Dunham, George Strait, and Radiohead will all be making stops in KC as well early in the year.

The Big 12 Basketball Tournament will be held in KC once again.  The Power and Light district is a great atmosphere for college hoops in March, bringing on fans from all across the big 12.
