The Big 12 Conference announced on Monday, August 3rd that the conference will adopt a ten game season in 2020.
The Big 12 Board of Directors mapped out a “9+1” football schedule Monday. This includes nine conference games, plus one non-conference opponent. The single non-conference game will be played at home.
The conference said that full schedules will be released in the coming weeks.
The new schedule will push back the start of the 2020 season to mid-September. Member schools will open with their non-conference game before jumping into conference play.
The “9+1” model will also give the Big 12 flexibility to play the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship Game later in December. Current dates that have been discussed are Dec. 12 and Dec. 19.
