Kansas defeated UNLV yesterday 76-61 to finish the non conference slate at 11-2 as they head into conference season. The Jayhawks played with great energy and effort in the second half after KU trailed by 4 points at halftime. Wayne Selden got off to a hot start before Frank Mason and Kelly Oubre took the game over in the 2nd half. The Jayhawks will open conference play on Wednesday in Waco, Texas against the Baylor Bears.
Kansas will have a challenge on its hands as they are looking to win an 11th consecutive conference championship. The Jayhawks are still considered a favorite, but with Texas, KU, West Virginia, Iowa State, Oklahoma, and Baylor all ranked the conference will be daunting. KU must win both matchups with TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State if they have any shot to win the conference.
