The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team is on a roll winning five straight now. They aren’t beating weak opponents either, all five of those teams KU took down are now ranked in the top 25. The most recent win for the Jayhawks came against a very tough Baylor squad.
The Baylor game was close all night until the Jayhawks finally pushed away and made a run. This started with excellent defense from Perry Ellis who stole a pass, raced down court, made the bucket and got fouled while doing so. On top of the defense was the hustle displayed by the KU athletes. For example, Wayne Selden saved a ball from going out of bounds, falling into the laps of Baylor fans eventually leading to Joel Embiid putting it in for a layup. These two plays were key points to the 14-2 run that led to the Jayhawks separating themselves from the Bears.
Ellis finished with 18 points while Wiggins finally stepped up with 17 points. The Jayhawks went 26 of 20 from the free throw line which also played a key role in this victory. The Jayhawks are in a groove and are finally playing like the team that everyone expected them to. The Big 12 is a fierce conference and the Jayhawks are going to have to get used to playing good teams all of the time.
