With Big 12 Media Days upon us this week, fans everywhere are buzzing about college football. The college football season starts over Labor Day weekend, and this will be the first chance fans will get to get see their team take to the field. If you are a Jayhawk like me, this year feels like a big unknown. How will Head Coach Turner Gill do in his first year leading the Jayhawks? How will the team do without standouts Todd Reesing and Dezmon Briscoe? Who is even the starting quarterback? Is it Reesing’s back up Kale Pick, or red-shirt freshman Jordan Webb or perhaps a dark horse?
The young Jayhawks are picked to take 4th place overall in the Big 12 North. I hope that with expectations like those, the Jayhawks will be able to surprise a few and exceed the preseason ranking. Gill is supposed to be quite an enthusiastic leader, and I hope he can ignite some fire in these Jayhawks. Gill has also inherited a much improved Kansas program and hopefully the Jayhawks can continue to claw their way to the top of the Big 12 North. The first chance Jayhawk nation will get to see the team is on Saturday, September 4th at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence. The Hawks will face off against the North Dakota State Bisons.
