KU fans had a lot to celebrate Saturday night after the Jayhawks rolled over rival Kansas State with ease in the Sunflower Showdown. The Wildcats attempted to mock the same style of defensive that San Diego State used to beat KU on January 5th, only this time the Jayhawks were knocking down their shots. KU’s freshmen Andrew Wiggins and Wayne Selden combined for 42 points. On top of Kansas shooting 56 percent from the field, they managed to only commit seven turnovers throughout the night giving them plenty of opportunities to score.
Prior to the game the Wildcats had a 10-game winning streak finding themselves in the top 25. Not much seemed to go right against the Jayhawks though as K-State shot 1 for 11 from the three point line. The Big 12 has some very worthy basketball teams and it will be exciting to see how the rest of the season pans out. KU takes on Iowa State tonight with Oklahoma St. and Baylor right around the corner. With its teams playing so well thus far, the Big 12 tournament is sure to be an event you will not want to miss. The Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO will be rocking when come March 12 as strong competitors will be fighting for the right to call themselves Big 12 champions.
