I have to admit I was wrong about Bruce Chen. On my June 4th blog, I wrote that having Bruce Chen in the Royals rotation was a waste as we knew what we had in Chen. I thought at the time it was better to have Robinson Tejeda in the rotation vs Chen. I still believe Tejeda should be in the rotation. However, he should probably replace Kyle Davies. Chen on the other hand is 4-2 with a 3.919 era. He has thrown 41 strikeouts in only 39 innings. He has done a good job and could possibly be the Royals #2 starting pitcher. Part of the Royals improved performance is Bruce Chen. Chen has started six times so far in 2010 for the Royals and has give up more than 3 runs in only one start. The unfortunate thing is Bruce Chen is 33 yrs old and is not part of the Royals future. The Kansas City Royals have been playing better as of late. The Royals are only 9 games out with a combined 33-44 record so far. Chen should have some trade value over the next month if he continues to pitch at his current performance rate. If I was Dayton Moore, I would look to move him. Hopefully, the Royals can get a prospect in return.
There are plenty of reasons to go out to Kauffman Stadium and cheer on the 2010 Kansas City Royals…. You might even get to see Bruce Chen pitch.
