It was an exciting week for golf fans around the world as one of the biggest pro tournaments of the year was under way. The Master’s, held at Augusta National Golf Club, is the first major tournament of the year and has been played annually since 1934. With the stakes being high and fans coming in to watch from around the world, the pressure was on and the excitement was there.
This year the 2012 Master’s champion had a repeat performance taking home his second green jacket. Bubba Watson shot a 69 in the final round of the tournament which moved him past 20 year old Jordan Spieth who had the lead going into the day. Unlike two years ago, where Watson won in a sudden death overtime battle, he was able to finish his final hole knowing that the title was his. Spieth held his lead until the 8th hole where he 3 putted for a bogey. Watson took advantage of the opportunity to cut the lead by landing a birdie on the same hole. Things weren’t looking good for Spieth on the 9th either as he again bogeyed while Watson birdied and took a 2-stroke lead. Spieth wasn’t able to cut the lead from then on out and Bubba Watson won the Master’s by 3 strokes. Spieth, who had a very impressive performance, had the chance to become the youngest golfer to win the Master’s at age 20. This would have topped Tiger Woods record when he won it back in 1997.
