The Nebraska Cornhuskers take their show on the road with a stiff test against the Washington Huskies. If Nebraska wants to say they’re back they need to go into Husky stadium and take care of business. The obstacle that stands in there way could be pointed at one position quarterback. The Cornhuskers take on who some believe is this year number 1 pick in Jake Locker. He blends size, speed, and a good arm that have NFL scouts going crazy over him. Meanwhile Nebraska will take a redshirt freshman into a hostile environment. Taylor Martinez has been up and down this year for the Cornhuskers. He needs to blend his amazing play-making ability with poise to eliminate those freshman mistakes.
Lets break down the game. I’ll give my take on what will go on in this Saturday. I think Washington will start fast drive to the 25 then stall. They open the scoring up with a field goal. Nebraska will answer back with a touchdown drive as Taylor and Nebraska’s offense settles into the game. The quarter will end Nebraska 7 Washington 3. As many people know how Nebraska defense works once they make adjustments they clamp down on the opposition. Washington will struggle in the second quarter to get a lot going. One of Nebraska biggest play-makers Niles Paul will return a punt for a touchdown. Nebraska offense will start moving the chains and put another score on the board. The half ends Nebraska 21 Washington 6. Second half starts with Washington getting the kick and driving the distance for a score. Both teams will exchange possession for a lot of the third quarter. Finally Nebraska takes advantage of a fumble and kicks a late field goal. The third quarter ends Nebraska 24 – Washington 13. Washington wants to put the pressure on Nebraska but can’t as Nebraska defense takes center stage. The Cornhuskers offense steps and puts the game away. Washington adds a late touchdown but its not enough. The final Nebraska 31- Washington 20.
