Chiefs Get #1 Pick

The Kansas City Chiefs finished the season with the worst record in the NFL. Many experts picked the team to finish atop the AFC West Division before the season started. The Chiefs greatly underachieved this year. The poor season led to the firing of Coach Romeo Crennel and GM Scott Pioli. The Chiefs seem to have several pieces to make a successful team but are lacking in one major position. The Chiefs probably had the poorest performance at the QB position of any NFL team this past season.

The good news is that the KC Chiefs have the #1 pick in the upcoming draft. The bad news is that this year’s draft might have the worst QB prospects it’s had for several years. The best ranked QB this year doesn’t even crack the top 20 of the whole draft. The Chiefs will have to decide if they want to reach and take a QB with that #1 pick or take a player that is predicted to fit in the NFL better. The issue is that the Chiefs have such a glaring need at the QB position. Even if there was a decently high ranked QB it would be a no brainer for the Kansas City Chiefs to take him. However, the KC Chiefs bad luck continues and the one time they get the #1 pick in the draft, there seems to be no worthy #1 pick.

The Chiefs hired Andy Reid to take over as head coach and he has a good record of drafting and working with QB’s. Chiefs fans should feel confident that they got the right man for the job of picking their future QB. If there is a QB out there worth the #1 pick then Andy Reid should be able to find him. If the Chiefs organization decides to go with another position at the #1 pick, then the fans should feel pretty good that they are making the right decision. Only time will tell what will happen and how these prospects will translate to the NFL.
