KState Men’s Basketball Roster- The 2017/2018 Men’s Team

The 2017-2018 season has begun from NCAA men’s basketball and the Wildcats are on a mission. Let’s meet the KState Men’s Basketball Roster and watch as the team fights and battles for the top. With a tough conference in the Big 12, KSU won’t let up on the gas. The Cats have a variety of returning and new comer players but still make the chemistry flow.  Under the direction of head coach Bruce Webber, the Wildcats hope to make a run for the Big 12 Championship and hope to make it as far as possible in the NCAA Tournament. Meet this year’s roster and watch as each player progresses this season and takes KState all the way!

CARTIER DIARRA #2

  • Redshirt Freshman
  • Guard
  • Florence, S.C.
  • Underwent knee surgery and had to skip the 2017-2018 season
  • No. 55 high school point guard in the nation

KAMAU STOKES #3

  • Junior
  • Guard
  • Baltimore, MD
  • 2016 Dean Harris Team Newcomer of the Year Award
  • One of 23 players in school history to total 200 or more assists in a career
  • Registered a team-high 1,165 minutes on the season, second most in school history
  • Ranked among the Big 12 leaders in 7 categories, including scoring (19th), assists (5th), free throw percentage (12th), 3-point field goals per game (9th), 3-point field goal percentage (14th), assist-to-turnover ratio (14th) and minutes (4th)

BARRY BROWN, JR. #5

  • Junior
  • Guard
  • St. Petersburg, FL
  • 2016 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team
  • 2016 Dean Harris Team Newcomer of the Year Award
  • 2017 Jack Hartman Top Defensive Player Award
  • Started in all 35 games last year, tying Kamau Stokes and Dean Wade for most-ever starts by a KState sophomore

BRIAN PATRICK #11

  • Sophomore
  • Guard
  • Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Averaged 47.5 percent shooting in his freshman year
  • Played in 23 out of 35 games last year

MASON SCHOEN #12

  • Senior
  • Guard
  • Overland Park, KS
  • Walk on in August 2014
  • Dual major in finance and marketing
  • Earned Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll every semester on the team

XAVIER SNEED #20

  • Sophomore
  • Forward
  • St. Louis, MO
  • 2017 Academic All-Bug 12 Rookie Team
  • His 33 steals in the 2016-2017 season, tied for the 6th-most by a freshman in school history
  • Made the Sports Reach Tour of college players traveling through Belize in a tournament during Summer 2017
  • Posted school Top 10 freshman marks in 4 categories, including games played (35), 3-point field goals (38), steals (33) and free throw percentage (72.6)

JAMES LOVE III #21

  • Redshirt Freshman
  • Forward
  • Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Suffered a broken foot in October 2017
  • Ranked as a top recruit from the state of Florida

PIERSON MCATEE #24

  • Sophomore

  • Saw action in 15 games during his redshirt freshman year 2016-2017

DEAN WADE #32

  • Scored in double figures 17 times, including on 11 occasions in Big 12 play

  • Finished his under grad at Mount St. Mary’s
  • Helped St. Mary’s secure both the Northeast Conference regular-season tournament championships
  • Led his team to the NCAA Tournament
    • Defeated New Orleans in the First Four but fell to number one seed Villanova

MAKOL MAWIEN #14

  • Sophomore
  • Forward
  • West Valley, UT
  • Transfer from New Mexico Junior College
  • Shot 49.2 percent in his one year at New Mexico Junior College
  • Lead his team in 3-point field goal percentage
  • Posted 2 double-double (points/rebounds) during his year at community college

AMAAD WAINRIGHT #23

  • Transfer from Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, TX
  • Ranked #26 in community college players
  • Averaged 14.2 points on 46.4 percent shooting

LEVI STOCKARD III #34

  • Won state titles on his high school team, Vashon, in 2016 and 2017
  • Twice named to the Class 4 All-State Team by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association
  • Selected First Team All-Public High League for three consecutive seasons

  • Transfer from Eastern Illinois
  • Must sit out this season due to NCAA transfer guidelines

NIGEL SHADD #45

  • Freshman
  • Forward
  • Mesa, AZ
  • Rated in the Top 10 of recruits from Arizona
  • Won four consecutive conference titles in high school at Tri-City Christian Academy
  • Holds school career records for rebounds (881), blocked shots (267) and field goal percentage (66.9)
